Your home is your wellness hub.
The more we understand and feel that the more we love and appreciate it; and want to do what’s necessary to enjoy the peacefulness of it.
So, what is your home’s story? How about your life’s story? Is it one of love and harmony, tidiness and function, cozy and relaxing? Or is it one of chaos and hurry, dysfunction and overwhelm? The truth is that the small little things done everyday make the biggest difference in how you live and how your home aligns with your values and desires. It’s habits, routines, care, intentions, and meaningful actions.
Life is so much easier, calmer, and enjoyable when we don’t have to worry about everything that needs to be done or managed when we walk in the door, or where stuff needs to go, or the time it takes to figure it all out daily. Aim to reset and refresh your home regularly, or create a system of HOME HABITS to ease the stress, help you stay on top of the clutter, and get your home & life back!
Here are a few habits for you to consider:
- Keep out of season items like decor and clothing stored away for the season, and out of your way of daily life
- Create a point of entry system- a specific place for keys, shoes, mail, bags, etc.
- Tidy the main eating and congregating areas nightly
- Make your bed daily to jump start the feeling of accomplishments throughout the day
- Complete any task that takes five minutes or less without delay
- Toss, file, or shred any mail or paperwork lying around
- Maintain clutter-free surfaces- top of dresser, kitchen counters, work stations
- Don’t put an item down if you know where it goes, put it away immediately
- Prepare for your day the night before by meal prepping, clearing the kitchen, and planning your outfit
- Create a donation bag/bin/basket and commit to emptying it monthly
- Remember how you want your home to feel, then simplify until the stress decreases
A little bit a day keeps the overwhelm away! Remember, consistency creates the habit. And it’s okay if things happen to throw you off a bit. But with a good system in place already, it’s easy to remember your ‘why’ and get right back into your habits. Use a habit tracker to increase motivation, improve consistency, and show immediate satisfaction.
